August 14-Positive pregnancy test, is that right? I told Jason it was positive….we both thought surely it wasn’t right
August 15-Second positive test. Huh, two in row. Maybe what happens in Mexico doesn’t stay in Mexico? I called to make doctors appointment.
August 22-Met my mom in Columbia and told her. She almost choked on her icecream.
August 23-I told Megan because she had to help me out the next night
August 24-Teresa’s birthday party at KC Power and Light. People catch on pretty quick to me not drinking. I didn’t really turn down drinks with friends before. So I had to lie and tell everyone I thought I had food poisoning and my stomach couldn’t take beer. Then Megan bought me rum and coke without the rum and sprite and vodka without the vodka. Thanks Megan.
August 26-I went to the clinic for “OB Counseling” which consisted of them giving me a bunch of books and handouts, blood and urine test. Too bad I didn’t know they were going to go the testing. I went at noon and hadn’t eatin since breakfast at 7. After taking my blood I got really cold and sweaty, sick to my stomach and dizzy. Luckily, didn’t pass out. Then I couldn’t pee….had to come back in the afternoon to pee in a cup.
September 4-7-I had a continuing education course at the lake and mom and Rachel came to stay with me. I told Rachel. She jumped up and gave me hug. She was very cute. The course was on myofascial release so there were some treatments I could not have performed on me. So, although I hadn’t told anyone but my mom and sisters, I had to tell my class of 60 people. Awkward.
September 13-15-Jason was in Colorado from August 10-20th so I went to Shelbina for a three day weekend. Told my dad first and then Gary. Dad was cool about it. Gary guessed it.
September 16-Finally, first doctors appointment. I was 10 weeks. Told the doctor I was a little nervous about having more than one baby because we have multiples on both sides of the family. After my exam the doctor said everything was going fine and he thought there was only one baby. They do not do an ultrasound which would confirm twins until 20 weeks. My due date is April 14, 2009.
September 18-Told my boss I was pregnant. She knew I was nervous about twins and said she knew someone in ultrasound who
September 19-Had an ultrasound over lunch. There were two little heartbeats. I was amazingly calm when she said there were two. The whole thing did not seem real. Jason was riding in the truck on the way home from Colorado. I called him and told him there were two. He was in the truck with his dad and uncle Bob who did not know I was pregnant yet. He went ahead and told them but waited for me to come to Bethany the next day to tell Rhonda and Elizabeth
September 20-Bethany now knows we are pregnant….Rhonda cried, Elizabeth was surprised. When we showed the ultrasound most people thought it was Marley’s (our dog) Generally, when we told people it was twins they just laughed. Thomas is in Kosovo and we called him over the internet and Jason got to tell him on the webcam. Jon called from Bosnia and we told him as well.
September 21-Wanted to wait and let everyone know at grandma Moore’s at Sunday lunch since a lot of people go over there for lunch. I texted Michaele. She was very excited and screaming. Then she called me and told her the rest, that there were two. This is how my conversation with Casi went. Me-Hey Casi, guess what? Casi-You are pregnant. Me-Yep. And guess what else? Casi-You are having twins? It was the same when I told Gary, Lacy, and several others. Made it easy to tell!
September 22-Let everyone at work know, Jason told the teachers at school. Word is spreading fast!
September 30-12 weeks, through the first trimester. The belly has started to pooch a little bit but I am still wearing my normal clothes. Here is my first belly pic.
October 16-After research and speaking with several people I decided to switch to an OB in the city so there would be more resources available if needed. I had my first doctors appointment with Dr. Newby. I liked her but didn't like everything she had to say. For one, they like to see women having twins every two weeks. I was not sure how that would work since I would have to take an entire afternoon off everytime I went up there. Also, she told me twins are usually delivered now by c-section. I discussed with her how I would like to try to have them naturally if possible. She stated that was only possible if they were both turned head down and both babies were pretty close to the same size. She listened to their heartbeats (165 and 150 bpm), told me to eat more, and prescribed me a different kind of prenatal vitamin. She said they would call me Monday to schedule an ultrasound in two weeks.
October 30-Ultrasound at Clinton revealed two boys! See above for pics! (and details)
November 6-Megan's 24th Birthday! Met Megan, Sylvia and Timmy, and Elizabeth and Laren for lunch and drinks (mine was flavored lemonade). We got her a CMU alumni sweatshirt and supper and drinks.
I noted that my stomach has practically doubled in size in the past week. I think I may have felt some movement in the past week but I am not for sure.
November 7-Well today I am for sure I felt something! I was leaning up against the nurses station with my belly pushed up against the wall. It felt like (one of them) was pushing back saying, "Hey quit pushing on me!" When I put my hand on the spot it felt very hard and then it was gone. I am sure there will plenty more of that to come! Also, my "fat pants" are getting tight! I am thinking it is probably time to make the switch to those maternity pants....
November 10-Level 2 Ultrasound at Midwest Perinatal. Clarified two boys! The doctor said everything looked good. He said with twins we are shooting for 34 weeks and and 36 weeks would be great. He also looked at their hearts, kidneys, spines, femurs, brains, etc. Apparently the reason I feel like my stomach has doubled in size is it has. In one and a half weeks they have gone from 5 oz each to 8 oz. each! Everything looked good , which was a relief. This is "Blue" sucking his thumb! We didn't get as good of printouts from this ultrasound.
November 11-18 weeks, proof there are two in there!
November 14-I have really felt pretty good this whole time. Then for about two or three days straight I felt funny. Not sure how to describe it but to say I felt like had taken cold medicine and was walking around in a dream. (Only I didn't know why.) I called the nurse line just to see if it was something I should be concerned about. She said it could be a sign I need more protein in my diet. I don't really eat that much meat so I have added more meat to my diet and now I am back to good!
November 20-I drove to the city for my doctors appointment. She told me everything looked good and my weight was right on track. I go back in three weeks, December 10th for a doctor's appointment and another ultrasound. Dr. Newby said they will do an ultrasound every two weeks from then on to make sure the babies are within 20% of the same weight and to check their position! She said the twins could be identical or fraternal because there is no of telling whether they started out separate or separated. The only way to tell for sure is genetic testing after they are born.
December 5-WATCH OUT-I can spot them from a mile away! The tummy touchers. The first thing that bothers me is they look at your stomach before they look at your face. Then for some reason, without hesitation, their hands go towards the stomach. Now, people who know me know I am not touchy feely. It is my stomach and is not for public touching!! No touching unless you are invited.
December 10-22 weeks, had doctor's appointment and ultrasound. Everything looks good! Their weight and my weight is good for my due date of April 14th. Doctor still says not to expect to go past 36-37 weeks. Both boys weigh right at a pound and are within one ounce of eachother. I was given a l
23 weeks-it really seems like my stomach is growing fast now!
December 12, 2008-Mom, Megan, and Rachel threw a puppy themed baby shower for us in Shelbina. Complete with puppy decor and puppy chow served in dog bowls. The pic is during one of the games...Mom did a PRICE is Right Game and also a quiz game where the guests had to pick how Jason answered. Over 40 people turned out and
December 21-Jason drove up to Bethany yesterday to drop Marley off and visit for a couple days. He was worried about Marley during the night because of the cold. He went out to check on her in the dark and poked himself in the eye with a wire sticking out of the kennel. He thought he was okay until he was driving home and about Harrisonville he couldn't keep his eye open. It was Sunday, so we didn't have a choice but to go to the ER. They put some die in his eye and found he had scratched his cornea. He got a tetnus shot and some $45 eye drops and it healed up in a few days.
December 22-Uncle Jon's home! Jon got to come back from overseas for about a week. We went to lunch at El Camino and supper at Applebees with the Petersens and Ritters to celebrate. The boys spent the day playing rock band.

December 23-We loaded up the truck and drove to Shelbina. The roads were fine until about Paris and then it was super slick but we made it alright.
December 24-Christmas morning at the Leu's. Those in attendance were Mom, Gary, me and Jason, Megan and Zach, Rachel, and Jon. We spent the day with the family and had tacos-forget the turkey and mashed potatoes.

December 25-Spent Christmas eve night at Dad's and opened presents in the morning before heading over to the Moore's for the rest of the day. Dad, Jason and I, Megan and Zach and Rachel went to see Marley and Me in Macon. It was a real tear jerker.
December 26-after lunch we headed to Bethany to have the Price family Christmas. Thomas is in Kosovo so it was Jim and Rhonda, me and Jason, and Elizabeth and Laren. We were supposed to open presents the next morning but ended up doing it that night. We were all there, why not? That night there was a lot of excitement.
December 27-Elizabeth and I were going to go shopping in the morning but it was freezing rain so we stayed home. Maybe it is because I have not been working the past few days, but I have noticed they have been moving around like crazy. Jason finally got to feel one move!
For not being born yet, the boys did pretty good at Christmas. Some of the gifts included: car seat bases for the truck and an Einstein octopus from Grandma Linda, camo overalls from Grandpa Greg, Northwest onesies from Aunt Megan, brown and blue warm snuggly outfits from Aunt Michaele, a Royals legacy brick from Grandma and Grandpa Price, and Royals and Chiefs quilts made by Aunt Elizabeth. From us, a Royals quilt with their names embroidered on it
December 30-Jim and Rhonda came down from Bethany to help get the nursery ready. Jim and Jason worked on putting up wainscoting and Rhonda painted the baseboard and trim while I was at work.
Decemeber 30 CONT-Got a call in the early evening Zach and Megan got engaged! Piper presented Megan with the ring. We are all very excited for them. The boys already have a job as ring bearers!
December 31-New Years Eve in Clinton. This was the first time we didn't have a New Years party in about 5 years! We went to El Camino with Derek and Amanda, Jerad and Shannon, and Jerads' sister and her husband. Then we went back to Preston's duplex to bring in the new year.

January 8-Tomorrow is Brinkley's 4th Birthday but I will be gone all day to doctor's appointments. I thought we should do something to celebrate today! I got her a bacon scented plastic bone and a rubber ducky. We went on a walk and took a nap together. Also, Brinkley got two whole treats instead of two half treats today. What a birthday! Thought I should spoil her since things are gonna change a bit coming up... My mom came tonight to go with me tomorrow.
January 9-Had three seperate appointments today: blood test for gestational diabetes, an Ultrasound, and a regular doctor's appointment. I wanted mom to meet the doctor and thought it would be cool for her to see the ultrasound. After a bit of confusion going to the lab ( I was sent to to the hospital and was supposed to be at the clinic) we eventually got through all three appointments. The ultrasound showed they both weigh about 2 pounds. There is a 3 ounce difference between the two which is good. (You don't want too much of difference.) The doctor did an exam and told me everything looked good. Then she broke me the news that in two weeks I would have to start coming twice a week for a nonstress test. Of course we want to what is best for the babies but this seemed like a lot since I haven't had any complications. We are trying to work it out so they can be done here in Clinton instead of driving to Overland Park twice a week. A nonstress test monitors for contractions and makes sure when the babies are moving their heartrates increase. Basically, it makes sure they respond appropriately and are not in distress. After the doctor's appointments mom and I did some shopping and then met up with Megan and stayed the night with her.
January 10-Mom, Megan, and I went to Target and KMart to get a few baby things and then went back to Megan's apartment to have burrito pie before heading to Bethany for Shower #2! I was glad Mom and Megan could be there. It was a great shower with a baseball/ROYALS theme. We got a lot of clothes which is good because we will need a lot with two boys! They played the guess which candybar is in the diaper game and had cake, punch, cracker jacks, and peanuts.
Me with the soon to be grandmas and aunts

January 11-We got back from Bethany Saturday and started washing loads of the smallest baby clothes and blankets. Sunday we took inventory of what we had and what we need and tried to organize things. We went to WalMart to get whatever necessities were left and picked up some of the site to store items we had ordered. Jason put together the Royals toybox from Mom, Megan, and Rachel. We took Mom out to lunch for her birthday because it is the 23rd and we won't see her before then.
